A 1-km walking trail that encompasses the crater’s edge offers spectacular views that
include Mt. Fuji, the Izu Seven Islands, and Sagaminada Sea.
On sunny days, take your photo with Mt. Fuji in the background from the special photo spot.
You can also enjoy archery at the bottom of the remains of the hollow that was once the crater, 70 meters down from the rim.
The traditional Yamayaki Mountain Burning Festival, in which the entire mountain is set alight, takes place on the 2nd Sunday in February every year. Crowds of spectators flock to view the spectacle.
* Hours vary depending on the season.
* Because the entire mountain has been designated as a Natural Monument of Japan,
climbing the mountain on foot is prohibited.
* It takes about 20-30 minutes to complete a circuit of the mountain-top walking path (approximately 1,000 meters).
* Only return-trip tickets are available for the Mt. Omuro Lift.
